In mid-October, a dedicated St. Olav workshop was held at Norwich Cathedral. The event brought together churches and heritage sites from across the UK with a connection to Saint Olav, including locations from the Orkney Islands, the Isle of Man, London, Cumbria, Chester, and York. Through lectures and discussions, the workshop explored the theme and potential of the living St. Olav heritage in the UK, as well as opportunities for sustainable cultural tourism within the Cultural Routes program.
During the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between ACSOW and Norfolk County Council. Norfolk also became the first UK member of ACSOW.
The board and administration of ACSOW are thrilled to welcome the UK and its rich St. Olav legacy into the Cultural Route! For now, the key focus is raising awareness of the historic connections between St. Olav and the UK, and find the best way to organize all these eager UK heritage sites. A potential future physical pilgrimage trail was also discussed, though this is still in the very early stages of exploration.
